Hello S. Shanthi,

Take it easy! You are in the right track of learning English language skills.

Writing and Speaking are active ways of learning English, on the contrary reading and listening are passive ways of learning. Hope you would take up mailing posts in higher numbers and making voice records as much as possible after the DEEPAVALI festival.

Wish you, your family and all ‘THE HAPPY DEEPAVALI’!

Mujibur

Dear Alan,

I am very lucky that I found these pages. Now this one what I needed. I have read them and I have printed the newsletter to read it in my bed. You are right and Mortesa is right.

But what to do when you don't want to hurt anybody all the same somebody humiliated you, and you don't know the reason why he/she did this. For me this isn't easy to digest the humiliation. I am breaking down - I have to confess.

Luckily I can control over myself and in such time I try to take care of my family much better for that they didn't notice anything. But the unspoken word causes a bigger torment. That's why I was happy that I found these pages. Thanks.

Good night:
Kati Svaby

Hello Alan,

Thank you for your newsletter. We could learn idioms about tempers. How react when somebody set our nerves on edge. And how find relaxation.
Take it easy!=Cool it!=Keep your cool!= Don't loose your cool!=Don't flap!= Stop flapping about!
These are very true but what to do when somebody doesn't look for the conflict but he/she finds himself/herself in a conflict. How to to hold his/her horses now or/ don't fly off the handle or /keep his/her shirt on ? I think you know how important for me to learn English? You say: "Language of relaxation ". Yes, for me this would be a true relaxation.But...

I was pondering whether I can trouble you with my problem. But I have to do it because I reached deadlock. How can I come out?
My letters shows something from this old problem.

I don't understand how I could get in this position? Why I don't get any message from the forum? Excuse me, but when I open my laptop and there isn't anything from the forum, it's very difficult keep my hair on. I can't be as cool as a cucumber just on the contrary I begin in a terrible state.

Dear Alan! I'm sorry that your newsletter exasperated me.

Thanks everything:
Kati Svaby

P.s: I have no force now to read out my letter. Tomorrow I'll recover my strength.

It depends on the rest of the sentence, Momodou.

I love hearing news from home.
I've heard news from home.
Have you heard any news from home?

Hi,

The continuous form of 'hear' has nothing to with context but a lot to do with meaning. You can say: I hear the postman putting post through the door every morning = This sound comes to my ears. I am hearing stories about some of the things that you have done this year = People are telling me stories about this.

Hi Alan,
Please I would love to know if I could also use expressions like: Cool down, Calm down, Exercise patience or be patient, and take your time to mean Take It Easy.
Thank you.

Hi Oyawmichael,

You can use those expressions, but of courtse, you need to be careful as some people might not like being told such things.
