Hi Torsten,
As there is a bit of a gap between 'to' (send), I would be tempted to put another 'to' before 'access'.

Hi Alan,
Somebody told me that in the past the part of speech of “access” is a noun only and when using it we always write it as “gain access to” until recently, ten to twenty years, people like to use it as a verb for direct action. Is that true ?
In some legal documents, such as the Agreement of Purchase and Sale, I found that people still use the word “access” as a noun as in the sentence “The Buyer(s) shall have the right to gain access to the property two further times prior to completion”.
Is it more formal or correct to use “gain access to” in legal documents ?
Best regards,
Nick |

Hi Nick,
'Gain access to' suggests to me very much a physical entry as illustrated in your example
| Quote: |
| to gain access to the property |
It has now become used as a verb suggesting to get hold of/to reach in a figurative sense and has developed as have many words from the language used in computing. You can see this in expressions like: 'to access files/data' and so on.
To answer your question about 'access' as a noun, I would say it is certainly still used when talking about entering a building or road, with verbs like 'gain' 'get' 'obtain' or simply with the verb 'be' as in: There is no access to the path from the back garden.
Hope this helps.
