Hi friends,
Somebody told me that we use 'too much' when we want to talk about something negative. For example, I hate you too much.
And we use 'so much' when we want to talk about something positive, like, I love you so much.
I want to check if he is right about that or not?

Thank you

Hello Mixmixi,

I´d not say that `too much´ is strictly bound to negative sense; e.g. you might say: I love my wife too much to cheat her. I think there isn´t a negative meaning in that, is there?

But to me `so much´ gives the idea of `a lot´ or `extremly´........
You also can love anybody a lot.

Whereat `too much´ meant `more than enough´ to cause a certain reaction.

Hope this helps a bit

Michael
