Dear teachers!

One of my colleagues is very fun of contemporary music. She asked me about the title of album "I am kloot". Please help me with translation.

Hi Olga,

I recommend these additions to your translation research routine:
Sometimes not even these are enough (they only relate "kloot" to that band and to a sport), so you can...
  • ...google "xxxxxx means", with the quotation marks. Sometimes this helps me with entire phrases from songs and song titles, when I don't understand them.
In your case, by typing "kloot means", Google returns:
    • "I think I am Kloot means 'I am bollock' (...)", on this link.
    • "Just for the record: Kloot means testicle in Dutch. (...)", on this link.
  • ...use Google Translate, which is of great help for rough, literal translation. In the field "Translate from", select "Detect language", then it will always give you a hand, from confirming that kloot is "testicle" in Dutch, to revealing what a troll shouted in strange characters in a chat room. ;oP

Translating cheers,
Planta.

Hi Olga,
I, too, am very relieved to know that there is a (much) nicer meaning to "kloot" (= a clown with no feet).
And Inga, thank you for this great addition to my personal translation research routine : UrbanDictionary.com

Klootish cheers! (in the clownish, footless meaning =oP)

I've just said that in general I like reading dictionaries. And Urban Dictionary is on of my favourite. Especially when I watch a film that contains a lot of slang or unknown words I use Urban Dictionary to learn the meaning of the word.
Thank you :)
