Hi. I'm a new member. I like joining forums because I always learn new things from fellow members.

Here's a famous quote I'd like to share:
"Never seem more learned than the people you are with. Wear your learning like a pocket watch and keep it hidden. Do not pulll it to count the hours, but give the time when you are asked."

Not a bad quote. :) It's very helpful when learning to speak English, too. Many times, I've seen students try to use big words and complicated sentence structures when short and simple would have been much more effective.

Even when I talk to native speakers, it helps to be conscious of what they may or may not understand. For example, I have a friend who is a doctor. When she talks about things using the jargon of her profession, she might as well be speaking a foreign language to me! :)

dear friend, there is so much truth in what the quote says. The moment we realise that the purpose of language is for communication,i think we wont go for deep words but rather simple and easy to understand.
