My opinion: defeat (in here) = ruin, destroy, infect, fail, to make upset

Hi
Could you please tell me wheather they are correct as below?
It defeats = It fails ? the entire purpose = feasibly used with mobile computers ? having those devices = external hard disks ?
Thanks

Hi Mark,
My opinion again: It defeats = It fails (ok) the entire purpose = the purpose of inventing the mobile computers having those devices = having mobile computers or hand-held computing devices

oh, I think I had made a mistake,
"having those devices" should be "having mobile computers or hand-held computing devices", right?
