I have rediscovered Walnuts and I'm advocating them
Im on a walnut trip
Delicious and easy to eat great texture almost like meat
Walnuts Protect Arteries after High-Fat Meal
Walnuts, a rich source of the omega-3 fat, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), improve artery function after a high fat meal and may be even more important in a Mediterranean-type diet than olive oil in promoting heart health, suggests a small study from Spain (Cortes B, Nunez I, J Am Coll Cardiol).
The study, funded by the California Walnut Commission and the Spanish Ministry of Health, looked at the effects on a number of markers of cardiovascular health of adding walnuts or olive oil to a fatty meal.
Twelve healthy people and 12 patients with high cholesterol levels were randomly assigned to eat either a high-fat meal (80 g fat, 35 per cent saturated fat) that also included 40 grams of walnuts or one that included 25 grams of olive oil (30 grams = 1 ounce). After one week, the participants eating walnuts were crossed over to olive oil and visa versa.
The researchers evaluated the activity of the subjects' blood vessels after the meal, and looked at cholesterol and triglyceride levels, as well as markers of free radical (oxidative) stress and blood levels of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA). AMDA is a by-product of the metabolism of the protein, arginine, that is said to interfere with the amino acid L-arginine, which is involved in the production of nitric oxide (NO). NO acts upon smooth muscle in blood vessels, causing them to dilate and thus increasing blood flow.
The researchers reported that blood flow in the brachial artery of the arm, (flow-mediated dilation) increased 24% in the subjects with high cholesterol after they ate the walnut-containing meal, while the olive oil-containing meal actually resulted in a 36% decrease in blood flow.
However, levels of cholesterol and triglycerides decreased in similar amounts after both meals. Blood levels of ADMA were not affected by either walnuts or olive oil. The fact that a single walnut meal positively affects postprandial vasoactivity further supports the beneficial effects of walnuts on cardiovascular risk, wrote lead author Berenice Cortés in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. http://walnutsweb.com/walnuts/Health+Benefits+of+Walnuts _________________ Any day you wake up on "the right side of the dirt" is a good day. |

http://www.thelivinlowcarbshow.com/shownotes/1583/20-year-vegan-lierre-keith-advocates-omnivorism-episode-334/
Today’s fascinating interview has Jimmy speaking with the author of The Vegetarian Myth: Food, Justice, and Sustainability named Lierre Keith. Keith spent 20 years living as a vegan and is now passionately spreading the word of how vegetarianism and veganism are not only unhealthy but how they fail miserably to meet the goals of improving the ecology, advancing personal health and avoiding ethical dilemmas as is often claimed by those who adhere to this particular lifestyle choice. She goes on to explain how an omnivorous diet does not need to be incompatible with valuing the earth, your body and your sense of moral justice. _________________ Any day you wake up on "the right side of the dirt" is a good day. |

Hi Mr. Vegan!
Why do you worry about what people say? Listen to your body, if you do not feel like eating meat, don't do that .But, if your body asks for some animal protein from time to time , there is no problem. I would say that, more important than avoiding meat at all, is to watch out what you eat. Some people don't eat meat but drink soda, use a lot refined products and then they go and get all those food complements from drugstores or food stores. A complete non sense to me. Eat in a simple way, simple does not mean bland, or boring, or not delicious. Enjoy the food, pay attention to what you eat, add color on your plate, be grateful and happy while eating. Food is not meant to be a problem...it's a blessing in a Quantun way. By the way, nuts are simple ...and delicious. I eat a lot of Brazilian nuts. Bye

This guy is talking about one the main concerns about "Getting enough Protein"
I keep watching these till I memorize them. :-) |
LOL ! For a person who doesn't work out with weights these sourses of protein are sufficient but for bodybuilder ? Cereals are excellent indeed. In my recipe I boil them only with water without any spices like dairy products, honey, sugar. If you are searching for some tasty way of eating them it is better to get used to their normal taste firstly. Then you won't have any problems, the right choice of food occasionally is "boring" like people in the forums say.
The guy in the video doesn't say that any of the sourses that don't contain essential amino acids! The amino acids from beans, bread, cereals, oats, wheat and so no are nice, don't understand me wrong but the important protein is in the meat.It is suprising to hear how beans(whatever their price is ) can bring out muscle building ? For vegans is kind of a impossible task if they are looking out for plain foods to satisfy their daily demand . I recomend you to be more moderate and don't avoid eggs and dairy products. But if you have decided yet go ahead, nobody knows what will occur I'm not the smartest at all . |
