Students can learn better by themselves or by teachers

Nowadays, going to school and then to the university is becoming more and more important. Nonetheless, a few decades ago – before World War I - it was not that usual to go to the university, and students had to learn by themselves their jobs.

It was a good means for the students to learn by themselves because they had to be self-responsible. Besides, they could figure out faster if the subject they were learning interested them or not, and it was up to them to decide what to study. Furthermore, they didn’t have deadlines for their assignments and they could organize their work more easily because they were not depending on no one else. But it was then difficult for these students to know if they had the skills required for the job they wanted. Nowadays, it is sometimes not possible for students to be taught by teachers. For example, a man, asked to move to Russia for his job, won’t have time to go and see a teacher. He can buy books, records in Russian, and it will cost him less than what he should have paid for a teacher and he will learn the language faster : these books are specifically made for persons who need to learn a subject quickly. But, the books won’t answer the specific questions that he might want to ask.

Therefore, being taught by teachers seems to be, to me, a better idea. When a student doesn’t understand the lecture, he can go and ask his lecturer, who will be pleased to answer his questions. Moreover, the teachers know how to teach, they are trained to do that. They can try and be friendly with the students, but there is always a limit in a master-student relationship and they can easily stop joking when work has to be done. Besides, even if students don’t like exams and deadlines, the grades motivate them. Then, a teacher’s lesson is also better than a student’s own lesson because the teacher masters the know-how of his subject : he is supposed to be better at this subject than his student… For example, a difficult foreign language, such as Chinese, might be better learnt with an actual teacher than with a book : the teacher will be devoted to his student and will adapt his level to his student’s needs.

Thus, learning by oneself seems to be a bit difficult without a strong motivation and without basic skills in the subject learnt. That is why I think that a student should always learn by a teacher.

Students can learn better by themselves or by teachers

Nowadays, going to school and then to the university is becoming more and more important. Nonetheless, a few decades ago – before World War I - it was not that usual to go to the university, and students had to learn their jobs by themselves .

It was a good /means/REASON/ for the students to learn by themselves because they had to be self-responsible.
Besides, they could /figure/WORK out faster if the subject they were learning interested them or not, and it was up to them to decide /what/WHICH SUBJECTS/ to study.
Furthermore, they didn’t have deadlines for their assignments, /and/SO/ they could organize their work more easily because they were not depending on /no one/SOMEONE else.

But /(THEN IT WAS)/it was then/ difficult for these students to know if they REALLY had the skills required for the job they /wanted/HAD DECIDED UPON/.

Nowadays, it is sometimes not possible for students to be taught by teachers.
For example, IF a man, IS asked to (move/REDEPLOY/ to Russia for his job, THEN HE won’t have time to go and see a teacher. He can buy books AND records in Russian, and it will cost him less than what he /should/WOULD/ have paid for a teacher, and he /will/MAY/ learn the language faster : these books are specifically made for persons who need to learn a subject quickly.
But, the books won’t answer the specific questions that he might want to ask, therefore, being taught by teachers seems to be, to me, a better idea.
Besides, even if students /don’t/DO NOT/ like exams and deadlines, the grades /motivate/ARE A GREAT MOTIVATION FOR/ them.

Thus, learning by /oneself/ALONE/ seems to be a bit difficult without a strong motivation and without basic skills in the subject BEING learnt.
That is why I think that a student should always /learn/BE TAUGHT/ by a teacher.

An excellent essay Sus, and I liked the way your structure strengthened as your essay progressed, but do not presume that the reader will understand everything that you are saying ... your meaning must be crystal-clear! 8/10
