Hi,

When do you use 'person' and when do you use 'people'? These two words constitute another awkward pair. Let me explain:

Some people use the word persons instead of saying people is that correct? what I studied is that you never use the word person in plural you must use instead the world people but in some school many teachers taught their students the word "person" as the plural. I am a little bit confused about it.

Person is referred to a single human, so it is singular—not plural. I used "persons" and sometimes "people" but people it sounds a bit awkward to me; I feel like I'm speaking on behalf of a community, a city, a country or a world. I preferred persons as a noun plural. Jerry

Hi,Alan
Am I right? Because I think we use person when talking about one man or one woman.I mean individually. It is not determined. But we use people when talking about many persons. Is it right? or... I do not understand well when I should put "s" after people.
If I do not miscount this is the 100th message I have posted. Please correct my mistakes.
