Advertising can tell a lot about a country #1 (permalink) Tue Feb 02, 2010 9:02 am   Advertising can tell a lot about a country

Good Morning, dear Bill. I wrote one more essay, hope you will correct it.
Thank you.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Advertising can tell a lot about a country.

Some people believe that advertising can characterize a country and reveal some interesting facts about it. However, others think that it is just promotion of goods, just combination of the pictures or video that is not bringing any important information about the country. To my way of thinking, advertising can describe the country and tell us a lot about it. Now I am going to explain why I think that.

First of all, nowadays, people travel a lot. Whole we have the possibility to cross the world and travel from one country to another. Most people choose the country to visit with help of advertising. For instance, you can lie on the couch and watch TV. Then you see the advertising of France, as a country for traveling. They let you listen some fragments of nation music and show you colorful and vivid pictures of Eiffel Tower or the other famous sights of Paris. This trick will give you an idea how amazing France can be. You will be charged with the powerful incentive to visit those places.

The second reason is “quantity of advertising of the particular topic”. For example, on the Italy TV channels you will see the advertising of spaghetti pretty often. Another example is that in Turkey you can see the advertising posters about religion everywhere. In addition, in Germany you will be able to watch a lot of advertising of beer. All these examples support the idea that advertising can tell us much about a country. In my opinion, advertising create a lot of stereotypes as well, that influence on people badly. To come back to the previous examples, I would like to add that German people are not drinking beer all the time and Italians are not eating spaghetti. To sum everything up, I would claim that advertising can tell us about a country a lot, but sometimes with the bad side too.

So, for the above mentioned reasons I would definitely agree with the statement that advertising can tell us a lot about a country.

WhIle we have the possibility to cross the world and travel from one country to another....... ????? please continue

Most people choose the country to visit with (the) help of advertising.
For instance, you can lie on the couch and watch TV.
Then you (will) see the advertising of France, as a country for traveling.
They let you listen (to) some fragments of nationAL music and show you colorful and vivid pictures of (the) Eiffel Tower or the other famous sights of Paris.
This trick will give you an idea how amazing France can be.
You will be charged with the powerful incentive to visit those places.

The second reason is (the) “quantity of advertising of the particular topic”.
For example, on the Italy(Italian) TV channels you will see the advertising of spaghetti pretty often. (LOL)
Another example is that in Turkey you can see the advertising posters about religion everywhere.
In addition, in Germany you will be able to watch a lot of advertising of beer.
All (of) these examples support the idea that advertising can tell us much about a country.

In my opinion, advertising create a lot of stereotypes as well, that influence on people badly.

To come back to the previous examples, I would like to add that German people are not drinking beer all the time and Italians are not eating spaghetti. (LOL)

To sum everything up, I would claim that advertising can tell us (a lot/a great deal)about a country a lot, but sometimes ( it projects a completely false image of that country and its people.)with the bad side too.

So, for the above mentioned reasons I would definitely agree with the statement that advertising can tell us a lot about a country.

Good morning Svetlana. This essay lacked your usual spontaneous style of writing.
You hopefully found the topic very limiting to a person of your abilities, but you could have, and should have, attacked this subject with humour and intelligence. 7/10.

Kitos.
