It would be better if you could give us an idea what 'X' is-- a person's name? A utensil or piece of equipment? _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

I need Mr X to try this = I consider it necessary for Mr X to try this. _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

Thanks!
Do you happen to speak Japanese? (your profile says you are from Yokohama)
If so, please proceed to read further.. if not, still thank you for sharing your time to respond to my question.
I need Mr.X to try this.
In Japanese, I thought I could translate as
A:Mr.Xにこれを試してもらう必要がある。 B:これを試すために、Mr.Xが必要である。
What do you think of my translation B ?
Thank you very much |

Ah! Mister, I think I've got it.
I guess my translations ,A and B, are both correct. B sounds a bit awkward but if instead of Mr.X, I put an utensil as a subject, then the translation B sounds natural. |
