Today pollution is a serious problem in our society. This essay will try to find out causes and effects of pollution and what we can do to avoid the environmental destruction.

Nowadays pollution has reached enormous dimensions and has negative environmental impacts. There are different sources, which badly affects our environment. The three main parts of pollution are the urban life, the agriculture and industry. We pollute the air by emitting dangerous gases like CO, CO2 when we heat our homes or driving car. Refuse dumps and the huge amount of fertilizers insecticides and herbicides that are used in the agriculture to make more profit with the crop contaminate the soil and the groundwater. Detergents and chemical waste released from the industry make also a part of the pollution and so fish and plants in rivers and lakes die. Because of these examples we have to change our habits and reduce pollution. We all can separate our waste and use the energy efficiently. The industries and agriculture need to clean their chemical waste, put filter on the chimney stacks minimize the transport ways. We all need a lot of fossil fuels, but coal oil and gas will run out in near future, so renewable energies become more important.

Scientist has developed different opportunities to use the sun, water and wind for producing energy and there are nuclear fusion and geothermal technology also. Especially wind energy promise a huge energy production. On windy sites could large groups of wind turbines supply a lot of households. Wind farms often built out at sea because there are higher wind speeds and the turbines are more efficient, but this is influences by the diameter of the rotor blades. The longer the blades, the greater the electricity output.

In conclusion pollution is a world-wide problem and everybody has to accept that he must become an active part for protecting the environment.
