America is 233 years old - a mere pup.
However England, Scotland, Wales and Northern ireland that make up the British Isles are of course much older, dating back much more than a 1000 years

Dinosaurs didn't survive either!
The differences between the cultures are vast, we are two different countries. It's the same as England # Germany, we have some similarities but also a lot of differences.
Here's an amusing video to highlight how our leaders are different

Great video Scott my tv must be broke:-) I have never been to the US - but have lived in Germany and something tells me the US would actually be more like Germany (apart from the lingo etc) Architecturally and many other ways. I think New York (older apartment buildings etc) looks like a mainland European City - I also heard there was a referendum held to see what the national language was going to be and it was almost German. IMO there are also a lot of similarities between NYC and Berlin. _________________ Any day you wake up on "the right side of the dirt" is a good day. |

hmmm...
I've never been to China, but then again I don't think I'd feel very secure in making generalizations about Chinese culture in comparison with the my home country either ;) _________________ There's no such thing as an exception to the rule...

Hehe!! back for yet another pop at me Oxy - Just remember Im Irish which might explain why I feel less insecure :-) In the context I mentioned Architecture - I have watched plenty of TV and know that there's no British city which is even remotely like New York the older apartment blocks in New York are usually approx 1000 square metre's living area (not including stairwell)on either 4 or 5 floors of either 200 or 250 sq metres with say 3 or 4 apartments on each floor.
This is clearly a Classic mainland European style you would rarely if ever see in the UK
I has also heard that New York is like no were else in the US but you could only have it in the US - Which is exactly the way Berlin is described in a German context
Pretty obvious stuff I would have thought. _________________ Any day you wake up on "the right side of the dirt" is a good day. |

I would have to say that at NP'ing the British have a more restrained slightly less obvious almost subtle kind of style.
Where as the Mainland European/Italian and new york styles appear to have a lot in common
Were they both seem to just "Go for it quite enthusiastically"
