I have joined an English class. Yesterday I did not attend class because I went to my friend's wedding. If my teacher asks me: "why were you absent?".... the sentence isn't finished.

I understand now what you want,so you'd like to know what you can answer to your teacher's question. I thought you just wanted to correct the sentence. Yes, you can answer: I went to my friend's wedding that's why I didn't attend class.

Good luck!
