Hello ladies ans gentlemen , In reality I 've a problem in understanding poems especially the one belong to the great poet "William Shekspeare"I've tried to understand but a lot of words are used, doesn't exist in nowdays dicionaries , I mean that the language has been motivated, so please any one can help me in solving that problem. Thanks in advance!

Sonnet 1 "From fairest creatures we desire increase"
From fairest creatures we desire increase,
That thereby beauty's rose might never die,
But as the riper should by time decease,
His tender heir might bear his memory:
But thou contracted to thine own bright eyes,
Feed'st thy light's flame with self-substantial fuel,
Making a famine where abundance lies,
Thy self thy foe, to thy sweet self too cruel:
Thou that art now the world's fresh ornament,
And only herald to the gaudy spring,
Within thine own bud buriest thy content,
And, tender churl, mak'st waste in niggarding:
Pity the world, or else this glutton be,
To eat the world's due, by the grave and thee.

William Shakespeare

I need to know about the stess " and feets" in poetry and other forms

Hi,

This is a big question as it would require a full analysis of several words/phrases and also some knowledge of the background to the verse. Perhaps you could highlight one or two words/phrases that you don't understand.

Are you making a formal study of that sonnet, Abir.

You will find a summary and analysis of that sonnet, plus more general notes on the background of this and other sonnets here, but if you want anything in greater depth the company will expect you to pay for their study guide. I do not endorse this product - I'm simply providing it as a response to your question.
