I don't understand the question. when i have to breathe it`s always/ever an effort caused by mouth and lung muscles. It`s a crucial physoilogical automatism like ventricular automatism . If both functions fail you will lapse into a coma ( no effort to breath = stroke ) or die after a couple of minutes.This is not rather my opinion than clinical evaluation - at that strictly common consense all over in medical science.
