What is a whinger? #1 (permalink) Thu Nov 17, 2005 15:47 pm   What is a whinger?

Hello!

I would like to know the meaning od "to whing" or "whingers". It must be quite slang because I couldn't find it anywhere. I have it seen in the sentence" Do your parents whing like mine?"

Thanks

Hi VANESA,

I think the verb you are asking about is whinge and someone who whinges is called a whinger. Originally it meant cry in a pathetic way as babies sometimes do. Now it is used to mean complain usually about small things that annoy you. You can whinge about the cold/the heat/the weather/the cost of petrol and so on and if you do this all the time, you are often described as a constant whinger.
