SPORTS TODAY.

a. What are the most popular sports in Spain. Why?
b. Advantages/disadvantages of professionalism for sportsmen and sports.
Salaries and clubs' budgets.
c. How to produce good sportsmen.

Nowadays the sports not only are an entertainment, sports are much more than this. Sports are business, style of live, health, culture of a country, and so on. I live in Spain and I can appreciate that there are some sports which are most popular than others. This depends many times on the customs, the climate, the economic situation, of each country. In my case and from my point of view, I am going to mention in the following paragraphs, the most popular sport in my country, the advantages/disadvantages of professionalism for sportsmen, the differences between the salaries of a sportsman such as a footballer, or a pilot of Formula 1, and a runner or a volley ball player, and how I would produce good sportsmen if I were politician and I were the person in charge to make some changes.

First of all I have to say that there are not doubts about that the most popular sport in Spain is the football. It is difficult to answer why, but nowadays the newspapers and especially on Mondays, they full a lot of pages writing about the football. Each time that there are some important football match, the people leave all that they are doing in that moment and they meet in the bar, or in their houses, in front of the television in order to watch the match. Furthermore, in Spain there are some of the most popular football teams and these teams have good players who now are celebrities, such as Ronaldo, Messi, Casillas, and so on.

In regard to the second question, I think that for some of us the sports are a hobby and for others are jobs. I agree with the professionalism of sportsmen because they make a lot of money and not only for them. There are a lot of people around them who earn money thanks to them.

On the other hand are the sportsmen’s salaries. There are a lot of differences among sports. The most popular sports give to their teams and players high salaries and other sports cannot afford almost to pay their sportsmen. All of this is due the media. The TV, newspapers, radio, magazines, pay high sums of money to those players, because they are news all days. Thanks to them, they sell everyday and depending on how much money a sportsman can to generate, he will receive more or less money by his work.

Finally, I think that to produce a good sportsmen it is very difficult and also very expensive. First, we have to find a child with good features to do a specific sport. Then, when we have this child, we have to train him and at same time we have to give him an education. There are few people who want to spend their money in somebody when they are not certain that that child will success. Therefore, the government should to increase the budgets for these institutions who train to produce sportsmen since they are children.

To sum up, Spain is a country where the football is very important and makes a lot of money. Do not mind whether the sports are professional or not, from my point of view the most important is to practise some sport in order to be healthier and if you are good doing any sport, you could become a professional and therefore to earn money.
