Hi,

Nowadays you don't just go shopping. You go for a shopping experience! You enter a world of magic in a supermarket that seems to stay open for ever and you buy much more than you first intended. Let me tell you more in BOGOF.

I find this essay interesting, because what you said is the truth. I usually go to buy one thing of an specific product, and at the end I get two more, and I don't really need the other two. I think one has to choose to buy only the stuff we really need, because every week there are different products on discount, and we will have the oportunity to buy them when we really need. So think better before buying what you don't really need.

Good Essay Alan - All your own work?

My Mother used to preach - never go shopping when you're hungry.

Or you will end up buying lots of stuff you don't need.

Unfortunately this is not always the case. :-(

yes, like usual, Alan, a pretty felicitous story.

But I agree a bit with Jamie saying:

Hi Dear Alan,
On the one hand, the main drawback to this phenomenon is the hurry sickness in which the hustle and bustle have to get on with the hurly-burly of the city life.
On the other hand, the benefit is that we don't need to use our brain(think a lot) while shopping. We are now a real compulsive shopper not a conscious one.
Good for us, the human beings of the twenty-first century!

Alan, pretty well explained and described story, shopping experience. I remember there was a stand up comedy performed by Jerry Sienfield about shopping experience just the way Alan explained, take a look at this: (Go to Minute 6 of the clip)

Hello Mr. Alan,

This is very intersting and and at the same time very true. People like us go for shopping to buy some needy items and end up the shopping with many unwanted stuff. This is a habit developed because of advertisement and many other offer. I am thankful for knowing the meaning of BOGOF.

Thanks

Hi Alan!

Such a great essay! You always write marvellous essay. Yes, it's true that we buy things which we don't really need. At least not in that number what we bought them.

I look forward for the next essay!
