Michael, any new and novel idea is welcomed by the children, The most difficult thing is holding their attention.
You need something to interest them and to make them strive for.
A good exercise is to set them jumbled sentences and ask them to rearrange the words to make an understandable sentence.
I feel it must be a tremendously satisfying job to teach youngsters. I know that it probably isn't without its frustrations and difficulties, but that's what its all about.
Good luck in your chosen career.

Well, this is not my dream job, to be honest (I prefer teaching adults), but as Kitosdad wrote it gives much satisfaction if the kids are interested in the topic. If they are bored or tired- the lesson turns into a nightmare :) _________________ Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes. Oscar Wilde

Hi Michal,
Teaching kids this age can be a great experience. They will love you if you're nice to them and fear you if you're strict :)
I think it is very important to be yourself. You know, if you're trying to act a clown after your mother has died you are bound to look unconvincing. Same in the classroom. Approach them the way you treat your peers and I'm sure they'll be eating out of your hands.
Good luck!
