Nobody can really expect to do well in the TOEFL exam in a short period of learning, and to even attempt to take the exam is, in my opinion, a waste of their time and money. Their inevitable failure will lead to disappointment and frustration.
A far better approach would be to at first become competent in the very basics of your knowledge of English; Sentence structure and grammar. Tenses and conjugation of the most commonly used verbs. The importance of conjunctions, and their use in your composing interesting texts. There are many more disciplines that must be mastered, but initially those above are the most important to master. The others will be learned and refined later in your education.
When, and if, you pass your exam, is not the time to become complacent. Your work is now about to begin in earnest. The higher your pass mark the greater your chance of being accepted into the more well recognised universities will be. This is were your success in life will be carved.

Forget the stories you have heard about university being a great place to have good times and fun. They are places of learning, and only the most diligent students will have success in their lives as a direct result of going to university. Potential employers will scrutinise your qualifications like a hawk. The best jobs go to the best candidates!
So, knuckle down, listen, look and learn. Question everything you do not understand. The guy standing in front of you knows everything about his subject. Use his knowledge to carve out your own futures. Ignore those who would encourage you to have a good time. It is they who will be envious of you when you land a plum job. Go to it boys and girls ... they world is yours for the taking ... grasp it with both hands!
