Is it misprint or a correct sentence? #1 (permalink) Fri Mar 19, 2010 8:51 am   Is it misprint or a correct sentence?

I have found the following sentence:
"Even though the radiation is coming from a very small area the size of our solar system, it is so powerful that it can be seen across the universe."

Is it a misprint? Or is it a correct usage?

Maybe an author wanted to say something like this:
"Even though the radiation is coming from a very small area compared to the size of our solar system, it is so powerful that it can be seen across the universe."

The relationship is between our solar system and the entire universe. Within that comparison, our solar system is small.

Hi Adm,

What you have quoted is just about acceptable in a conversational style. Left out of the sentence are the words 'which is' and that omission doesn't really make it difficult to follow -
Quote:
a very small area which is the size of our solar system
