Correct answer: (a) I presume

Is 'I presume' the same as 'I gues' or if not why?

Hi Deya,

Yes, it has that sense of I imagine or I think I am right in saying. You say this when you are not absolutely sure about your comment as in:

I presume you understand - suggesting that the speaker could expect an answer of yes or no.
