Standing on the corner is an old guy with a smile,
I see him almost every year, I linger for a while.
And he tells me all these stories of the places where he's been,
The distant lakes and mountains and in valleys oh so green.
I can see it written in his eyes he really has been there,
Travelled in those distant lands, seen sights beyond compare,
And I'm so happy just to know him, and hear him tell his tales.
'Bout the time he was in Newfoundland, a'hunting those damn whales.
His hands are hard and calloused and his skin burnt almond brown,
But his eyes are clear as crystal, and he never wears a frown.
No-one knows just where came from, but we all know where he's been,
When he starts to spin his stories, they all seem like a dream.
But when you hear him tell 'em, you know he's speaking true,
Co's he ain't the kind of fella, who would ever lie to you.
Though you don't really know him,you kind'a feel you do,
You'd like to know him better, but you know he won't let you.
For he has a million stories that others have to hear,
So he ambles down his lonely road, I'll see him here next year.

Hi Kitos,
WOW, That was one of the very best of yours, my favourite part is:

His hands are hard and calloused and his skin burnt almond brown,
But his eyes are clear as crystal, and he never wears a frown.
No-one knows just where came from, but we all know where he's been,
When he starts to spin his stories, they all seem like a dream.

I really liked this poem, it seemed kinda familiar for me, I am sure that you wrote it, but it reminded me great songs I heard which I cannot remember for the moment. :-( Really sweet and friendly. Keep on posting your poems please.

Hi,
Sorry, but the poem sounds sad. However, I listened it three times. Your voice is really warm and sweet. I just love it. The poem reminds me my grandfather. He has passed away eight years ago. I will listen to it next day and next days. Please continue posting your poems with your voice.

Regards,

Hey Jamie, your new picture shows a much smarter side of your character. Going to a dance?

Jaime is right, the movie was nominated for this year's Oscars too. Don't miss it.
