I was amazed by the English language...it can exactly draw what the situation happens without needs much words. Thanks Mr. Alan. you are inspiring me..

Hi Alan and everybody. Thanks for your explanations, especially for providing examples of usage. For instance, the sentence "He has a fear of lifts and always walks up the stairs.", if originally thought in Italian, would be "Ha paura degli ascensori e fa sempre le scale". Translating literally from Italian into English, one wouldn't use the article with "paura" (fear)! Now I know that would be wrong! Thank you very much!
