Hi all,

I'd like to know what does" we will finalize on this candidate on way or the other" means.

We will finalize on this candidate one way or the other. Two other persons from NY will talk to Gu before this week and we will close on this candidate. Thanks for your feedbacks.Much appreciated

Any help will be appreciated.

I presume the original writer of that sentence isn't a native English speaker? Either that or AmEnglish Corporate Speech sounds foreign to my ear!

We will finalize on this candidate one way or the other.

"We will make a final decision about this candidate, either way." (By 'one way or the other' they mean whether the candidate is successful in his application or not.)

Two other persons from NY will talk to Gu before this week and we will close on this candidate.

"Two other people (colleagues might be more appropriate?) from NY will discuss the matter with GU by the end of this week, and we will decide on the outcome."

Thanks for your feedbacks. Much appreciated.

Hi Beeesneees,

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. It really helps me a lot.

I don't know whether the orginal writer is a native English speaker or not. It was posted on anther forum I usually visit. The background is: a man(hereinafter referred to as A) recommended his friend for a position. After his friend has taken the interview, the interviewer dropped an email to A. In the email, the interview wrote:

We will finalize on this candidate one way or the other.

2 other persons from NY will talk to Gu before this week and we

will close on this candidate. Thanks for your feedbacks.

Much appreciated

A got confused after finished reading the e-mail. He's not sure about whether or not his friend have been rejected.

Again, thank you for you kind help! Have a nice day.

I'm glad I could help!

If it's not too late, you can now explain to A that the company are still considering his friend and will make a decision within one week.

Your English is excellent. Apart from two typos (a missing space before the open bracket and interview instead of interviewer at one point), I would only pick up on one other error.

After his friend has taken the interview...
should be
After his friend had taken the interview... (past tense of 'to have'. 'Has' is the present tense.)

I've already done that. I've quoted your words in response to his question. Your reply make it perfectly clear to him.

Thanks for pointing out my mistakes. I'll keep them in mind.
