Hi,

I've never been a fan of flying and airplanes in general and thanks to the volcanic eruption in Iceland. the skies above the London area are now at peace. The real fliers of the world, the birds can now be heard undisturbed. It's interesting that the planes have been grounded not through any man made action but through a natural phenomenon.

Hi Alan,
We all feel sorry about Volcanic eruption in south Iceland. But it is not near enough to effect England. I heard that many flights have been cancelled around. I hope eruption ends in short time.

Hi,

Oh yes the UK is affected by the volcanic dust. There are no flights over London and the south east of England. People are enjoying for the first time in many years peace and quiet in the Royal Parks in London and can actually hear bird song and insects!!

The South East of the country is affected this morning. My friends, who live in the area surrounding London, woke up to a smog like fog and found that overnight everything has been covered in a layer of dust.

It's a really interesting feeling too see not one single airplane in the sky.
But I really feel sorry for the thousand of people stranded at foreign airports.
As far as I know it's currently unknown for how long the airports will be closed.
(especially the European airspace)

So I hope the vulcan will calm down the next days. :)

Yeh, many of my friends, the students in UK, can't reach their uni, some others my friends got stucked in Denmark, all the international routes of buses were sold out so quickly that some still can't imagine what to do.

However, I was not going to fly somewhere, so I can enjoy watching all this chaose from a distance - that's quite funny when almost all posts on facebook was about the eruption of volcan and flights, full of jokes about being stucked somewhere they don't want, that someone wants to buy his own flight or query and so on... - the life is interesting, isn't it?:)

Our airports and airspace are closed at the moment, so I'm afraid there's a long drive waiting for me. Not good. =/

Why is everybody talking about airports and the dust cloud in Europe? What about the Icelanders? Do you know that Eyjafjallajökull volcano is situated not so far (only 200 km) from Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. Why don't we and media world discuss what is going in Iceland? What about the animals that migrate through this region every year? What about marine ecosystem and the emission performances of this volcanic mud?

What is all that but a warning to mainkind?

Yesterday I was looking for information about Iceland and situation there on our news page. Unfortunately I have to agree with you Geo777. I didn't find anything, people just write about losing money, because a lot of airports is closed(unpleasant situation for me too).

Hello Geo,
You are definetely rigt about Iceland people. When we watch the news about eruption, we hear only about flights over England and around. There is scarcely anything about Iceland itself.

Hi,

This is an attempt to show the other side. This is a film about what it's like in Iceland.
