Hello, I wrote these comments for one of my friends. Are they correct?

I think fruit is like the word fish!
When you talk about one kind of fish, for example one hundred eels, you may say: Those eels are very dangerous fish.
But when you are talking about many kinds of fish in a group, or something like a group, you may say: Hey, look at those fishes!

For more assurance, please let me ask Alan, though.

I would think that basically fish is generic whereas a fish or fishes are individual and the the fish(es) is specific.

The plural of 'fish' can be 'fish' or 'fishes'.

The plural of 'fruit' is most often 'fruit', but sometimes 'fruits'.
