how to pronounce the names Firth and Sinclair?

Hi,

I am wondering about the pronunciation of the names of the two famous linguists, i.e. John Firth and John Sinclair. I would guess that in that first case the vowel is the same as in the word "work" and in the other case it is the same as in "tip".
