Errata: The earth is round

I was browsing through the material on the use of "the" when I came across this item :

Definite — the

Uses
Before nouns of which there is only one.
"The earth is round."

I respectfully suggest that "earth" should be " Earth". There is only ONE Earth [as far as we know] but plenty of earth...................still.
