35.It’s ( ) unusual for me to get angry ,but I was ( ) shocked by my boss’s attitude.
A.completely ;fairly B.fairly ;quite
C.completely ;quite D.quite ;fairly

Why is the key B? I prefer option D. anyone would like to explain it, please?

Although the phrase "quite unusual" would be acceptable, the phrase 'fairly shocked' would be incorrect. You cannot really be 'fairly' shocked because shock indicates a more extreme emotion than 'fair'. 'Fair' indicates a balance.
In the correct answer (B) both parts of the sentence make sense. An ocurrence can be described as "fairly unusual" and you can be "quite shocked".

Thanks a lot, Beeesneees. Now I fully understand. I seem to have misunderstood something, merely learning this word by means of translating it into Chinese.
