Hi,

Is it correct to say:

- A fan within the cpu box is not working.
OR
- A fan inside the cpu box is not working.

?

Both are correct. I think most people would choose to say 'inside'.

A fan within the CPU box would suggest a fan located inside the limits or extent in distance of the CPU box. "Inside" would be the wiser choice here in this particular cace, IMO.

'A fan inside...' / 'a fan within...'

In this case, both are correct, but inside is most common.

That is why I meant to ask (for the reason): why inside" is most common as you said? Not because it is more proper than "within" for the above semantic reason, BN?
