Hi Tortoise,
Do you really want to know what language is spoken in Poland or are you just joking? I mean, it's almost as if I asked what language you speak in Vietnam, isn't it? |

Very interesting. What makes you think people in Poland speak English as their mother tongue? Why should they? Do you speak English as your first language in Vietnam? No, you speak Vietnamese so people in Poland speak Polish of course. Take a look at this story and you'll learn more about Polish people: http://www.english-test.net/stories/index.html |

Well, thank you, FrankU. But you seem upset...
You know, people in Canada speak both English and French as their mother tongues. I though people in Poland spoke English because Poland is in the Europe and.... my knowledge is not very good.
Thanks. |

I'm not upset Tortoise just surprised by the fact that you think because Poland happens to be in Europe, people in Poland would speak English per se. Canada is a different story. The indigenous people there speak their own languages and English and/or French because most European immigrants were from either England, Ireland or France. Poland is a completely different story because it has got an ancient history. You might know that in Eastern and Southern Europe there live a number of Slavic nations that are made up of ancient Slavic tribes and Poland is the largest Slavic nation in the European Union. There was a discussion about the Polish language here: (you have to read Mosteque's messages).. http://www.english-test.net/forum/ftopic3673.html |
