Good morning!
Could you, please, check my essay?

Many people visit museums when they travel to new places. Why do you think people visit museums? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Travelling is becoming more and more popular among people all over the world. Lying on the beach is supposed to be boring now, but walking in the ancient streets of Europe and being lost in the jungles of South America- that is an ideal vacation for many. A lot of people choose one city and go there to spend their holidays. But at the same time they try to combine visiting sightseeing and shopping with going to the museums. Is it worth doing, or is it a waste of your time, that can be spent more efficiently in the new exiting place?

I am sure, that museums are treasures of all cities of the world, along with marvelous architecture and national parks. Only in the museums you can find the masterpieces of art from the particular country as well as from all over the world. Staying in one country, you have an opportunity to visit many others, as art is, without any doubt, a sufficient component of the culture. Moreover, looking at the paintings, you can understand the history of the country much better, than from a long and boring speech of a guide. Our visual memory works much better, than the auditory one. Artifacts, that can be found in the National museums, can tell a lot about early inhabitants of this area, about their customs and unique traditions.

I also must say, that a well educated person must be acquainted with several paintings and sculptures, that are accepted all over the world, as the true masterpieces. And one thing is to see them on the pages of textbooks, and another- to look at these marvelous creatures, made by people, in reality. Only in the Sistine Chapel you can really feel the skill of the great artist. There is no such a book, that can reflect it on its pages.

Moreover, for me a museum is a place, where I can relax. There is usually calm and peaceful atmosphere, and I can walk slowly, looking at my favorite pictures. For me it does not important, whether I stay at home, or go to the other country- paintings and sculptures are eternal, and, as in the modern society there are a few values, than last for ever, we should use each minute to admire the masterpieces, that have been living for ages in order to tell the future generations about the past.

To sum up, there are a lot of reasons, that people visit museums, being abroad. But you must not go there in order to be accepted by the society as a well-educated person. You must have a strong wish to touch the history and to feel the breath of the antiquity.
