We invite you to make an exciting trip round the territory of our museum, during which you'll see picturesque Tsaritsyno ponds, a large park area and the famous palace ensemble of the late XVIII century, built for the Russian empress Catherine the Great.

Our journey starts from the front square near the building of the Visit-center from the site of Tsaritsyno metro station. This square is beatified by flower beds. Fence with gilt state emblems remind of the "royal" status of the estate. In 2005-2007 the red-brick modern complex of the Visit Center, as well as all landscape improvement were carried out. During these years great changes had taken place here. The main edifices of the palace estate the Kitchen House and the Big Palace were restored, park area and ponds were improved.

Tsaritsyno ponds were created in XVII-XVIII centuries in the flood-lands of the right tributary of the Moscow river (the river Gorodnya) and its tributary Yazvenka. At present they form a united cascade of ponds with Borisoff pond and are the largest man-made water reservoir in Moscow. Their total area is over 160 hectares, and the extent of the winding coastline is more than 12 kilometers. The ponds are adorned by artificial islands.

From the left one can admire Middle (Tsaritsynsky Shipilovsky) pond with a horseshoe island and modern tracery bridges leading to it. In the center of the island - the original light and music fountain - one of the largest in the capital.
The diameter of the water surface of fountain is 55 meters. The central part of it consists of 4 circles with jets changing altitude. Its maximum height in the centre is 30 meters. Total number of water cannons - 216. In the rhythm of the music they create different plastic compositions, due to tilting and revolving jets. 2,500 underwater lights are installed in the bowl of fountain painting the water in different colors.

One sunny afternoon in its dancing jets a rainbow can be seen. It is also gorgeous at night with bright illumination.

Just 'electric carts/cars' will be fine, Olga.

We invite you to take an exciting trip around the grounds of our museum, where you'll see the picturesque Tsaritsyno ponds, the large park, and the famous palace buildings built for Catherine the Great in the late XVIII century.

Our journey starts from the square in front of the visitors' center at the Tsaritsyno metro station. This square is beautified with flower beds. The fence with gilt state emblems reminds us of the royal status of the estate. During 2005-2007, the modern red brick visitors' center complex was constructed and all the landscaping was redone. The main edifices of the palace estate, the kitchen house and the main palace, were restored, and the park area and ponds were improved.

The Tsaritsyno ponds were created in the XVII-XVIII centuries on the flood plain of the east tributary of the Moscow River (the River Gorodnya) and its tributary Yazvenka. At present, they form a united cascade of ponds with Borisoff Pond and constitute the largest man-made water reservoir in Moscow. Their total area is over 160 hectares, and the length of their winding banks is more than 12 kilometers. The ponds are adorned with artificial islands.

On the left, we can admire Middle (Tsaritsynsky Shipilovsky) Pond, with its horseshoe island and modern tracery bridges. In the center of the island is the original light and music fountain, one of the largest in the capital.

The diameter of the fountain is 55 meters. Its central structure consists of 4 rings of water cannons which jet water to varying heights up to 30 meters. To the rhythm of the music, the 216 water cannons create different plastic compositions with their tilting and revolving jets. Installed in the bowl of the fountain are 2500 underwater lights, which tint the water different colors.

On sunny afternoons, a rainbow can be seen in its dancing jets. It is also gorgeous at night with its bright illumination.
