Does Toefl® compensate for a low verbal score?

I was wondering if Toefl score compensated for a low GRE verbal score?
I took my Toefl last week and got a range of 215-275 so I should get something like 270. But my GRE verbal prep is going bad so will the Toefl score help?

Most admissions departments will look at both scores. In the US, for candidates that are otherwise strong but have low verbal and/or TOEFL scores, they are often required to spend the first semester or two in an intensive ESL program at the university before they are permitted to take "normal" classes with other students. After they "graduate" from the ESL program--which usually requires successfully passing a series of English tests--they become full students of the university.
