Some kind of car = A certain sort of car or cars
some kinds of cars = A certain number of different sorts of cars
some kind of cars = A certain sort of (group of) cars
some kinds of car = A certain number of different sorts of car or cars

I've understood the difference between some kind and some kinds but haven't between car and cars. I thought car should be used here rather than cars because car here is just a specific term and it doesn't refer to any particular kind of car. Please help me out.
