Darkness, blessed darkness.
Oh how he loved it.
It had been this way for over four centuries.
He had travelled across many lands to get here, and he had suffered many discomforts.

Thankfully Igor, his ever-faithful man-servant would never desert him.
How many times had this huge man manhandled his coffin down the hundreds of cellar steps whenever he had to change locations?

Here he was in London, in this old dilapidated house, this house with its dark, dank cellars which no squatter would ever venture into.
This was perfect for his needs.
Not a single ray of sunlight ever penetrated here low in the bowels of this once stately home.
No-one ever came here. no-one dare, for it was reputed to be haunted.
As he lay in his coffin he mused as to the changing times.
Once people would never be abroad after dark, and often they were secure in their homes long before evening fell, but now, now here in London, young people slept most of the day and only ventured outdoors after the hours of darkness.
Yes indeed, London was a playground, a vampires playground.

Of course the police had been a great help in not advertising his presence, in spite of the numerous deaths amongst the young night-time revelling community.

How easy it was to find some young braggart relieving himself in an alley after consuming copious amounts of alcohol
.
He rejoiced in seeing them pale at the sudden appearance of this unexpected stranger who slowly emerged from the shadows with his reddened-eyes and his elongated fangs.
How they spluttered and stammered as he wrapped his cloak around them, and sank his fangs into their warm necks. Oh, happy days.
He was satiated each night with the blood of these foolish young revellers.

He needed no sleep, but he must rest to allow his body to digest the blood that he had consumed.
He rested each day whilst the sun was high, and the daylight never once filtered down here to the cellar, the dank, dark cellar.

Good morning, Kitos.
Honestly, cause my country' s poem has different rhythm from yours, I can not perceive the whole tone and rhythm of this poem.
However, I still somewhat understand what you wrote (thank god), and now I feel scared to come to London.
Vampires! I have read many books about them. Do you think that they exist in the real life?
I asked my mother but she doesn't know.....LoL

Good morning Alive. This isn't intended to be a poem, it is a short macabre/horror story.

There have been stories of vampires told all around the world for centuries, although their actual existence has never been reported. There is a species of small bat that survives by drinking the blood of other animals, but the existence of a real life vampire is purely fiction.

Sleep well my friend.

Kitos.
