You have been told that dormitory rooms at your university must be shared by two students. Would you rather have the university assign a student to share a room with you, or would you rather choose your own roommate? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer.
When it comes to living in the campus dormitory, it can turn out to be an exciting experience. Some students would prefer to choose their room-mates, whereas others would let their universities assign theirs. Personally, I would rather have a room-mate to be assigned.
If you do not know what are the top qualities of a good room-mate you are looking for, you would like to live with a good friend of yours. Getting along with a friend as a room mate can be a total disaster if it is not properly handled; consequently, it could quickly ruin your friendship. However, if you know what virtues a room-mate should have, in order to attain a healthy living environment, you can provide the university with information about your interests, career goals, and habits, so that you will be matched with a potential compatible student.
Choosing a prospective room-mate on your own takes time. You will have to pre-select potential room-mates from the list provided by the university, and interview them to find compatibilities and incompatibilities. This selecting process is not very different from the one that the university applies. Thus, it is better that the university picks your potential room-mate, because, when you are trying to settle into a new environment, and you must find a room-mate to live with, the whole experience may be overwhelming.
To choose someone that sounds just like you may be the wrong choice. Your room-mate can be as quite opposite to you as you have imagined at first, and later you realize that you cannot stand him/her. Or having so much similarities can be boring; hence, it would be noticeably preferable to share a room with someone completely different from you, so that you have diverse topics to talk about.
In brief, I would like to share a room with a school assigned student, rather than one that is individually chosen. You save time in interviewing that you can spend in adjusting to the new environment. Moreover, you are more likely to enjoy the company of an assigned room-mate, once you get to know him/her better; maybe you will end up as best friends. ................................................................................................................ Great work Mil.
