Questions on this forum often relate to what a word means.
If you are serious about learning English, then it is important to invest in a good dictionary. xxx > English / English > xxx 'tranlation' type dictionaries may be enough at the very beginning, when you cannot read enough English to understand the definition, but as you progress it would be better to use a dictionary made especially for learners of the English language.

If you cannot get a book, then you could use an online dictionary - in fact, these may be more useful as they provide sound clips of the words being spoken.
