Hi,
Exhausted means very tired or you can say: tired out.

Hi again I've got
correct sentence: Marian was very exhausted at the end of the day so she strode slowly along the beach on her way back home.
Correct answer: (d) strode
Your answer was: incorrect your sentence: Marian was very exhausted at the end of the day so she walked slowly along the beach on her way back home.
So what's the right answer? walked or strode? |

I've got the same confusing result.
Correct answer: (d) strode Your answer (walked) was: incorrect
The above message states exactly the opposite. Which variant is correct then? |

Hi, If "strode" is the correct answer then I will not agree. Because the word "strode" is the past tense of the word " stride" that means to walk in a long steps especially in a hasty/rapid or vigorous way. So, strode contradicts the sentence referring that Maria was very exhausted........so she_______slowly along the beach on.....
Take note of the word "slowly" in the sentence. correct answer is (c) walked |

Too bad, but the error everybody reported about is still there. Everybody who hits a checkbox with "walked" (which is the correct answer as we know) still gets:
"Correct answer: (d) strode Your answer was: incorrect" _________________ I find your Lack of Faith disturbing!

You are all absolutely right that strode would not make sense in this context. I think this might be due to a typo. I wonder if the option was supposed to be strolled rather than strode?
Hopefully someone will notice this thread and correct it soon. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

Hello,
In 2005, the correct answer reported by Elnur was “walked”, but in 2009, the correct answer reported by RussianBear was changed to “strode”. Later, in 2010, Dhedin1, Gheon and Beeesneees objected to the correct answer of “strode”. Since then, no correction has been made because I took this test Question 1 today and the correct answer remained the same word “strode”. Could you please look into this problem soon?
Thank you.
Best wishes, Bhikkhu1991a. |

Hello Bhikku,
When I wrote that I didn't have access to the test-editing database. However, I do now, so I've changed that (and a few other questions in the same test). Hopefully the next database refresh will reflect the changes. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

'Strode' is NOT the correct answer, Samy. There is a problem with the database. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

That was my suggestion in post #8 above.
'Strolled' and 'strode' do not mean the same thing. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |
