The only effective way for government to encourage energy conservation... #1 (permalink) Thu May 27, 2010 9:28 am   The only effective way for government to encourage energy conservation...

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
The only effective way for government to encourage energy conservation is increasing the price of gasoline and electricity.

A handful of people maintain the idea that the mere increase of the price of energy can effectively conserve the various forms of energy asserting that the price is a tool implemented to lower the dependence on the fuel. I concede their opinion. Nevertheless, from my perspective, there are a plethora of methods to fix the problem of the lack of fossil fuel especially considering the two aspects of the decisive public perception and the up-to-date technology.

Initially, one issue encouraging me to hold on the opinion lies in that the enhancement of public morality is exactly the foundation of energy conservation. It is universally acknowledged that one's behaviour is always being influenced by his or her surrounding people and only if the whole society form the identical mentality and value concept can a significant project be implemented successfully. Therefore, we are supposed not to concentrate exclusively on the change of the price.Instead, we ought to urgent the public to realize the seriousness of the energy crisis and possess inherent perception of energy conservation.

Lending even more credibility to my viewpoint is that not only are we able to alter the consumption of energy by price leverage but we are capable of developing advanced technology rapidly on the purpose of the improvement of the efficient of machines. Few would dispute that there is a waste of heat escaping in the process of energy conversion. Moreover, it is the friction between machines that consumes considerable energy. Consequently, it is feasible to explore original measures to impair resistance. For example, oil can be used to decrease the friction resulting in the conservation of energy.

Admittedly, the governments are able to control the use of energy with the help of price. Nonetheless, it is not the only way to achieve the final goal.As extreme intellectual animals, human always enjoy the capacities to search for the scientific ways to deal with a severe crisis.

Taking all above into deliberate consideration, I'm inclined to maintain that adding to the measures of saving energy is price leverage.

It is universally acknowledged that one's behaviour is always being influenced by his or her surrounding people(,) and only if the whole society form the identical mentality and value concept can a significant project be implemented successfully. Therefore, we are supposed not to concentrate exclusively on the change of the price. Instead, we ought to URGE the public to realize the seriousness of the energy crisis(,) and possess inherent perception of energy conservation.

Lending even more credibility to my viewpoint is that not only are we able to alter the consumption of energy by price leverage(,) but we are capable of developing advanced technology rapidly FOR the purpose of the improvement of the IMPROVING THE EFFICIENCY of machines. Few would dispute that there is a waste of heat escaping in the process of energy conversion. Moreover, it is the friction between THE WORKING PARTS OF THE machines that consumes considerable energy. Consequently, it is feasible to explore original measures to /impair/REDUCE/ resistance. For example, oil WITH SPECIAL ADDITIVES can be used to decrease the friction(,) resulting in the conservation of energy.

Admittedly, the governments are able to control the use of energy with the help of SIMPLY BY INCREASING THE price. Nonetheless, it is not the only way to achieve the final goal.
