. 1-- There is no real difference between 1a and 1b in these examples. Both are courteous forms, and use varies individually: some people say could you, and others say would you.
Between 1c and 1d, only c is the normal suggestion; d is possible, but implies that you may well not be able to communicate with the driver at all.
2-- Probably has a higher chance of occurring than perhaps, but if is only conditional, with no indication of frequency. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

Actually, the correct form of the last sentence should be "you are very good at english" I understand that Mister Micawber is native English speaker and a teacher, so he is supposed to be good at English :wink: _________________ Learning is a sacred engagement. |
