Because (hopefully!) it will not be the final news ever!
It is the latest news, but there will be more sme time in the future, so it is not last.

Hi Abrar,

There is a difference between 'last' and latest' 'Last' indicates something that has passed/happened as in: Last night last year last letter as in:

Last night I read your last letter that you sent me last year.

'Latest' suggests most recent or up to date as in: Last night I read your last letter that you sent last year and I am looking forward to hearing your latest new.
