The only way to reduce the amount of traffic in cities today is by reducing the need for people to travel from home for work, education or shopping. Do you agree or disagree?

Today, a big problem that cities have to deal with is the amount of traffic, which leads to slower speed, longer trip times and queues. This is nowhere more evident than in big cities and capitals, which are densely populated. It is refuted that the only way to reduce traffic jams is by reducing the needs for people to commute from home. This will be shown by taking into account public transport and bicycles.

First of all, increasing the number of buses can help to reduce the traffic amount, especially if the buses are comfortable. For example, many individuals would choose to travel by bus, because it is cheaper than having their own car. This example makes it clear that comfortable buses would be the option of many citizens, when traveling from home for work, study or shopping purposes. Therefore, reducing the need for people to commute, is not the only way to reduce traffic amount.

Secondly, building bicycle lanes can be another way to significantly decrease the number of cars. Take, as an example, people who prefer having a healthier lifestyle: if there were bicycle paths available everywhere in town, they would definitely choose to ride a bike, instead of traveling by car. Furthermore, this would reduce the emissions of CO2, too. Therefore, when looking at this example, there is no doubt that many citizens would prefer riding the bike, instead of using a car. From this, it can be concluded that traffic congestions can be reduced in other ways than having people fulfilling their need from home.

Following the analysis of the benefits to travel using public transport or riding bicycles, it is clear that there are other solutions to reducing traffic jams.

Welcome to the Forum Kitisoare. This is indeed a very good essay. Some attention to punctuation is obviously required, but it is nice to see a new face and to read such good work.

Thank you! I was so stressed because I thought writing is my weakest point. But now I am more confident! I'll come up with some new essays later.
