The high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising #1 (permalink) Wed Jun 23, 2010 6:20 am   The high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising

The high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising and the real
needs of the society in which they are sold.

In the present age, the advertisement plays a very important role in our daily lives. But at the same time, more and more people criticize the advertisement raising the price of consumer goods and exaggerating the practicability of products. As for me, I am total favor in this opinion.

We can find plenty of evidence to support the view that the advertising usually is not real. As we know, advertisers spread numerous fake instructions of products in order to pursue high profit. It is not uncommon phenomenon that thousands of people complain the poor quality of products advertised. Moreover, the price of goods appears the increasingly upward tendency due to the advertising effects, which leads to citizens have to bear the heavy financial burden. By contrast, those cheaper goods are not efficiently popularized because failing to afford considerably high fee of advertising, so seldom people receive their product information. For instance, some international companies spend a great amount of money advertising their products, which leads to individuals only pay attention to these companies' goods but neglect other relative cheaper and not bad domestic products.

On the other hand, the advertisement also has some benefits for us. Obviously, some good and indeed needful products are slowly accepted by more and more people. Even so, I still suppose that the advertisement brings more disadvantages than advantages. It is clear that more much who spend money advertising, more popular whose products are advertised regardless of the good or bad product quality.

Overall, I concede that the advertisement has certain benefits, but its negative influence is more obvious. If the advertisement is used at the aspect of public and non-profit activities, I convince that it is substantially beneficial for our society and even the whole world.

Good morning Sean. This was an acceptable essay. Maybe a little research would have helped you to produce a more forceful opinion.
