Hi,

I moved the topic to get away from the oversized parrot, which distorts further text.

I am intrigued by the comment made by Jamie:

Quote:
We don't have that thing you have in Britain, where you can go from town to town and not understand people.
Jamie (K)

I really would like to know on what basis this remark is founded. And doesn't this comment vary considerably from the earlier one:

Quote:
However, I would say that most Americans -- even uneducated ones -- ordinarily speak something closer to standard English than most of the British do. I hear "better" English from the cashier at an American drugstore than I typically heard on the street in London.

Is this a change of heart/opinion?

Alan

I am not from English neither from America, but it's sound much realistic that British speak better English. Because English language origins are in British not America. It's my opinion.

I beg your pardon Alan - the width is perfectly normal.
