Name: Ong Thi Hoang Anh Topic: Should children start learning a foreign language early? In the modern globalization era, the communication among different countrIES HAS become more necessary(,) and it is not enough for people to only speak THEIR mother tongue. Therefore many parents allow their children access TO A second language when they ARE STILL young. However, bilingual education for children HAS causeD heated discussions about its accuracy in many countries. In my opinion, learning a foreign language early is essential for children for a number of reasons.
First and foremost some parents worry about negative impacts that bilingual education CAN affect the native language of their children. They CLAIM that when learning two languages at the same time, they will confuse the use of those. Consequently children cannot speak fluently neither THE foreign language nor THEIR mother tongue fluently. However we do not need to bother about this point. In fact children are living in an environment of pure negative language conservation and traditional culture(.) It is ALMOST impossible for them to give up THEIR OWN language. For instance, Japanese children who start learning English early cannot forget their mother tongue(,) because of the close relationship between them and their civilization. Besides(,) the advance IN teaching methodS HAS giveN many chanceS TO CHILDREN to interact with two different language environments without disruption. Another reason why MANY parents do not let their CHILDREN learn A second language early is that THE mental health of children IS TOO FRAGILE FOR THEM to study and learn. Their opinion is that children’s brains are not developed enough to apply thinking as well as COPING WITH THE pressure OF STUDYING. They MIGHT catch some mental diseases that preventS them from GAINING success in the future.
In contrast, a child has HAD THE ability to learn since IT WAS born. According to the research conducted by Harvard University in America(,) the brain of normal people have developed 50 percent in 0-4 years and up to 80 percent in 4-8 years. Therefore learning A foreign language early is absolutely suitable with children’s natural growth. Other parents refuse to apply bilingual education to their kids(,) because they think that children ARE not interested in learning when they ARE SO young. These parents do not wish to force their CHILDREN TO learn A second language that they do not like. Nevertheless we strongly support that their subjective comments are inaccurate. We know that a child has a very passionate interest IN studyING. From my experience, a boy living next to my house always ask me about something with full interest(,) and IS eager to seek answers. Children are attracted by the new sound from the pronunciation of the strange language. Hence they are very comfortable to learn A foreign language.
In conclusion, children are willing both physically and mentally to learn a second language. They also have ability to speak well two different languageS. Consequently early bilingual education for children should become a trend. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: WELCOME to the Forum Anh.
