When the material life improves, people like seeking a richer spiritual life, so it is easy to see that people listen to music for different reasons and different times. Therefore, music is important to many people because it is a kind of entertainment, it is a tool to express our ideas and feelings, and it helps us know culture of regions or countries.

Firstly, as we know music is a kind of entertainment because it is sounds arranged in a way that is pleasant or exciting to play or listen to. Consequently, we are able to use music to make our life more enjoyable. For example, when we have free time, we can sing karaoke with our friends to perform and compete with them in music talent, or we can watch musicals to enjoy plays or films with songs and dancing of which “High School Musical” in Disney Channel is an example, and so on.

Secondly, music is pregnant with the imagination including words and melodies to express ideas or feelings. Music is like a tool to express ideas about big problems in our life such as environmental pollutions, wars, hungers, poverty, etc…, and we can see “Heal The World” of Michael Jackson as an example. Besides expressing ideas, music also helps us to express our feelings such as happiness, sadness, jealousy, etc … that always exist in our life in any way. We can easily find the songs “Merry Christmas” and “Happy New Year” as typical examples of happy feelings in Christmas and new year time.

Finally, music and culture have a close relation, so each region or country in the world owning specific culture has different music with special styles and strains. We can learn language and know culture of the region or the country thanks to listening to music of the region or the country.
