Topic 25: It has recently announced that a large shopping center may be built in your neighborhood. Do you support or oppose this plan? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

Many people may support the idea of building a large shopping center in the neighbourhood because of the convenience of going shopping. However, I oppose this plan because it will affect the life of the residents around with the noise, traffic jams and the space it takes.

It is certain that a large shopping center needs a large space to locate and to build a car park nearby. Thus, many houses will be removed; the owners of these houses will receive just a small amount of money with which they cannot buy another beautiful houses like the old ones. In addition, the space for the children to play, for the adults to go jogging will be reduced.

Moreover, many people will go to the shopping center. As the result, many stores, restaurants will also be constructed to serve for the consumers’ desires to relax and to make a big profit. Naturally, people will talk, play and go shopping until late; these activities can create much noises. It will be a big trouble for the residents around there because they will find it hard to sleep and to concentrate on their work. Therefore, the large shopping center can affect the life of the people living around very much for the noise it brings about.

Finally, this big construction can cause traffic jams. The more people go the the center, the more vehicles they will have to use. This incident can make cars get stucked on the streets. Consequently, many officers can be late for important meetings, students cannot go to school on time because they all have to tolerate the traffic jams. Additionally, the noise and gas emission can have bad effects on your health, make you feel tired for a long time.

In conclusion, I think that the plan to build a large shopping center near my neighbourhood should not be passed because of many disadvantages it can brings to the people living around here.
